HelloNation and Opendorse Announce National NIL Program For College Athletes To Create Short-Form Videos

HelloNation and Opendorse have joined forces to launch the HelloNation Athlete Program, a groundbreaking national NIL initiative that reimagines how college athletes can build both income and long-term career opportunities. As the first program of its kind on the Opendorse platform, this partnership opens the door for student-athletes to step into the world of media, storytelling, and community engagement.

At the heart of the program is actor Chris McDonald—best known as Shooter McGavin—who serves as HelloNation’s national spokesperson. Through direct outreach, McDonald invites athletes to see this opportunity as more than a short-term deal. Instead, it’s positioned as a launching pad into broadcast media, where participants begin building a professional portfolio through real-world storytelling.

Athletes in the program are compensated to create short-form videos highlighting the people, businesses, and defining characteristics of their hometowns. These assignments, known as “Quests,” emphasize authenticity, communication, and storytelling—skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s evolving job market. Top performers don’t just earn NIL income; they gain visibility on a national leaderboard and may be considered for future roles within HelloNation’s expanding media network.

What sets this initiative apart is its long-term vision. HelloNation has designed the program as a structured pipeline, connecting NIL opportunities with career development in journalism and media. With support from major organizations and a growing digital publication network across the country, participants are given a platform that extends far beyond social media.

Opendorse plays a critical role by managing the operational side of the program, from athlete outreach to compliance and payments, while also promoting the opportunity to its extensive network of over 175,000 college athletes.

Ultimately, the HelloNation Athlete Program is about more than content creation—it’s about giving student-athletes a voice in telling the stories that shaped them, while equipping them with the tools to build meaningful careers.
